One of the classic creatures of D&D fame (suuure, it was Dave Arneson who invented the humble kobold - would I lie to you? Don't answer that). Also, now available in a beer-and-pretzels-gaming version: Kobolds ate my Baby!, illo'ed by the (in)famous Johnny Kovalic! (no relation to any cyber-punk delivery guys who look like Keanu Reeves).
